* Temporary Closure – May 2022 *

Douglas Shire Council will temporarily close the Daintree River Ferry for two days in May 2022 to replace the vessel’s southern loading ramp.

The important repair work, which involves removing the damaged ramp and replacing it with a newly fabricated ramp, will ensure the crossing remains safe for the public.

The Daintree ferry service will cease at 10pm on Friday 6 May 2022 and resume at 5am on Monday 9 May 2022.

Council has secured a 50-person passenger ferry which will operate in daylight hours – between 6am and 6pm for the Saturday and Sunday (May 7 & 8). – to ensure people can still travel across the river.

The service will operate continuously across the river during these hours. There will not be a vehicle ferry service for the 48-hour closure period.
